As the seasons begin to change, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an incredible September at Tennessee in Teal. This month was filled with meaningful moments, powerful awareness efforts, and deep connections — all centered around our shared mission to support women affected by ovarian cancer and to amplify awareness across the state.
From teal-lit landmarks to survivor support, September reminded us just how strong and growing our community truly is.
Throughout the month, Tennessee landmarks shined bright in teal, symbolizing hope, strength, and awareness for ovarian cancer.
September 10–12: Chattanooga City Hall was beautifully lit in teal
September 18 & 22: The Henley Street Bridge in downtown Knoxville glowed teal at dusk
September 21: The State of Tennessee officially declared September as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, a powerful step in amplifying education and early detection across our communities
These moments weren’t just visually stunning — they were conversations starters, reminders, and symbols of solidarity for survivors, fighters, and families.
One of the most meaningful parts of September was celebrating and supporting ovarian cancer survivors.
September 17: Survivors gathered for a special photo opportunity with Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon, honoring the strength and resilience of women impacted by ovarian cancer
September 2: We hosted our first monthly Survivor Zoom Call, bringing women together for connection, encouragement, and shared understanding
We’re excited to continue these Zoom calls on the first Tuesday of every month, creating a consistent space for support and community.
On September 27, we hosted the 2nd Annual Ovarian Cancer Awareness Tournament (OCAT) — and once again, the support was overwhelming. The tournament sold out, and while spots on the course filled quickly, supporters could still participate through our Silent Auction, available both online and live at the golf luncheon.
Every swing, bid, and sponsorship helped further our mission and directly support women navigating their ovarian cancer journey.
Support is at the heart of everything we do. This month — and every month — TN in Teal continues to walk alongside women facing ovarian cancer through:
Personal connections with women who reach out via Facebook, Instagram, or our website
Hosting local support group dinners
Distributing blessing bags to women undergoing chemotherapy, filled with footwear, hats, blankets, and Tennessee in Teal support materials
These efforts are personal, intentional, and rooted in compassion — because no woman should walk this journey alone.
Our work doesn’t stop in September.
Our specialty ovarian cancer awareness license plate campaign is ongoing
More survivor calls, awareness events, and fundraisers are ahead
Be on the lookout for ways to Walk for a Cause and get involved in upcoming initiatives
Every teal light, every event, and every conversation brings us closer to greater awareness and stronger support for women across Tennessee.
Whether you attend an event, donate, volunteer, or simply share our message — you are part of this mission.
Together, we continue to raise awareness, build community, and stand strong — in teal.
